bauma, the world’s largest trade show for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and equipment, will return to Munich, Germany from 7 to 13 April 2025. The event will feature more than 3,500 exhibitors from 57 countries, covering a total of 614,000 sq m of exhibition space.
Digitalisation and sustainability will be the key topic of bauma 2025, focusing on five areas: climate neutrality, alternative drive concepts, networked construction, sustainable construction and mining challenge
According to the organiser, Messe München, there is an increase in international participation, primarily from Asia – especially India, Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea. Europe also has a strong presence, with Italy being the second largest exhibitor group after Germany, while Turkey the fourth largest. In addition, the number of exhibitors from Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal has grown. And for the first time, companies from Argentina and the Philippines will be taking part in bauma.
“The persistently high level of interest in bauma underscores its global significance. bauma is and remains the heartbeat of the industry and will continue to provide important impetus even in the challenging market environment of 2025,” said Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München.
bauma Innovation Award 2025
This is the 14th time that Messe München and VDMA, together with the construction industry associations HDB, ZDB and bbs, will award the prize. The competition started on 2 May 2024, with five categories: Climate Protection, Digitalisation, Mechanical Engineering, Building and Research.
All nominees will be presented at the ICM in Munich on the eve of the opening of bauma on 6 April, and the five innovations with the highest number of votes will receive the award.
The jury evaluates the entries according to criteria that are crucial for the future of the industry. Key factors include the practical relevance of a solution and its economic potential. The international bauma Innovation Award has its roots in the German Construction Equipment Day, which until 2004 honoured cutting-edge technologies from Germany. Since 2007, it has been awarded every three years in this form and is organised jointly by VDMA, VDMA Services GmbH, bauma and the German construction industry’s central associations, HDB, ZDB and bbs. The VDMA is responsible for the organisation.
