The American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the Singapore Concrete Institute (SCI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance collaboration between the two organisations. Through the MOU, both partners commit to improving concrete construction by making the relevant technical expertise of each organisation available through publications, meetings, conferences, committee membership and other strategic initiatives.
ACI’s Strategic Plan calls for the need to expand into key international locations, provide ACI documents in other languages and customise them where appropriate, and increase international participation in ACI. By signing this MOU, ACI continues to advance this strategic goal. In June 2025, ACI named Zhu Liu as director of the Asia Pacific region, joining Ahmad Mhanna, director of the Middle East/North Africa region; Bernie Pekor, senior director of international affairs; and Kelly Dudley, executive assistant, in ACI’s international affairs team.
Founded in 1978, SCI is dedicated to upholding standards of excellence in the use of concrete, improving concrete technology and encouraging its use, and enabling people interested in concrete technology to meet and communicate, among other objectives.
ACI is the leading global authority for the development, dissemination and adoption of its consensus-based standards, technical resources, and educational, training and certification programme. Founded in 1904, the institute currently has more than 90 chapters, 350 student chapters, and approximately 40,000 members spanning more than 120 countries.
ACI will continue to use its resources and expertise to provide leadership in the effective use of concrete and foster awareness through communication and stakeholder engagement. To date, the institute has fostered closer and more formal relations with more than 75 international concrete organisations.
