Groundbreaking Asia-Pacific Interior Designers’ Accreditation Program (AP-ID-AP) Launched in Portmix, Shanghai

Portmix, Shanghai, China – The Asia-Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA) proudly announced the launch of the Asia Pacific Interior Designers’ Accreditation Program (AP-ID-AP) on March 28th, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of interior design excellence across the Asia-Pacific region.

Recognised by 14 countries and territories including Australia, Hong Kong, Macao, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand, with representatives from 9 countries present at the physical launch along with Asia-Pacific Design Center (APDC) as one of the official designated promotional partner in China, AP-ID-AP sets new standards in interior design by recognizing professional interior designers who demonstrate exemplary competency in the practice. 

As the first and only accreditation program of its kind in the region, AP-ID-AP aims to elevate the standards of the interior design profession and facilitate professional mobility within the Asia-Pacific community.

The launched event, held at Portmix in Shanghai, brought together industry leaders, professionals, and stakeholders to celebrate this groundbreaking initiative. The official formation of AP-ID Council, consisting of carefully selected experts from the participating economies, will provide the backbone to the assessment policy of the program.

Prof. Keat Ong, President of APSDA highlighted the importance of AP-ID-AP in promoting excellence and fostering collaboration among interior designers across borders with his speech. “With the AP-ID program in place, we are determined that we will be able to progressively elevate and eventually maintain the high standards of the Interior Design profession in the region.”

“APSDA is improving on its regional Education Policy, liaising with key Institutions of Higher Learning, with the aim that Interior Design Education in different economies will eventually move towards a more standardised curriculum and pedagogy as well,” said Prof. Keat Ong.

Phase 1 of the application process has commenced on March 28th, 2024, and is open to Group A Applicants from APSDA Member Economies with a Common Assessment Scheme fulfilling the following submission requirements:

  • Valid Membership Certificate of applicant’s respective economy’s associations
  • Valid Legislation or Accreditation Certificate of applicant’s respective economy

Phase 2 of the application process will commence in the beginning of June 2024, and is open to Group B Applicants from APSDA Member Economies without a Common Assessment Scheme. Interested interior designers are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this unparalleled opportunity to gain recognition for their skillsets and expertise.
